Some case studies are described here.
Royal Park Railway cutting (ML 69) is within a few kilometers of Melbourne’s CBD and the Organ Pipes (ML 16) is on the northwestern outskirts of Melbourne. Both are on public land. Royal Park is an example where the use of appropriate species and suitable planting regimes has enhanced geological and biological aspects of the site.
The Organ Pipes, by contrast, has had a revegetation regime which is generally unsympathetic to the main values of the park, resulting in vegetation that obscures the main views of the spectacular geological features.
The Council Trench at Bacchus Marsh is an example of collaboration between the Society and Local Government to preserve a lucky exposure of an important rock type.
