Cambrian

Pegfold: Tightly folded pegmatite dyke intruding sillimanite zone schist, Glenelg River Metamorphic Complex, Yarramyljup Creek.
 
Moornambool: Complexly folded schist of the Moornambool Metamorphic Complex, Mt Ararat.
 
Mt Dryden: Dacite breccia at Mt Dryden, part of the Mt Stavely Volcanic Complex of calc-alkaline volcanics.
 
Ordovician
I victoriae: Isograptus victoriae (Early Ordovician) from near Bendigo.
 
Fold Steiglitz: Folds in the Ordovician Castlemaine Group, Steiglitz.
 
Mallacoota: Tightly folded Early Ordovician chert and sandstone at Mallacoota.
 
Morrisons: Tightly folded turbidites of the Ordovician Castlemaine Group, Morrisons near Ballarat.
 
Steiglitz concretion: Calcareous concretion about 50 cm long, in Early Ordovician Castlemaine Group, Steiglitz.
 
Syncline in Pinnak: Rounded syncline hinge in Early Ordovician Pinnak Sandstone, near Mt Hotham.
 
Silurian
 
Cordierite schist: Cordierite porphyroblasts in a mica schist (knotted schist) from near Mount Wills, Omeo Metamorphic Complex.
 
Calc-silicate enclave in migmatite: Migmatite of the Omeo Metamorphic Complex near Mount Beauty. Just below the hammer is a calc-silicate enclave.
 
Pretty Valley Tonalite: Foliated Pretty Valley Tonalite at Pretty Valley Dam, Falls Creek.
 
Black Range: Aeolian cross-bedded quartz sandstone of the Grampians Group, Black Range.
 
Baragwanathia: Silurian Wilson Creek Shale, Melbourne Zone, with the graptolite Monograptus thomasii (top left) and the early land plant Baragwanathia longifolia. West of Woods Point.
 
Greensborough: Thrust fault, with folding in the footwall, in Silurian Melbourne Formation, Greensborough.
 
Mt Abrupt: Looking north from Mt Sturgeon to Mt Abrupt, a cuesta developed on west-dipping quartzose sandstone of the Grampians Group.
 
Devonian
Bell Point Limestone: Folded Bell Point Limestone (Early Devonian) at Waratah Bay.
 
The Basin Chert: Buchan Caves Limestone coquina that has been largely replaced by quartz and hematite.
 
Paradise Falls: Late Devonian Mount Kent Conglomerate exposed at Paradise Falls north of Mansfield.
 
Mt Buffalo: The Mount Buffalo Granite forms the Mount Buffalo plateau, seen here from Mt Hotham. Rocks in the foreground are Early Ordovician Pinnak Sandstone.
 
Cathedral: The Cathedral, a large tor castle on Mount Buffalo.
 
Folds Skyline Rd: Early Devonian Norton Gully Sandstone, folded during the Middle Devonian Tabberabberan Orogeny. Near Eildon.
 
Liptrap: Folded Liptrap Formation (Early Devonian) at Cape Liptrap.
 
Mt Hope: Late Devonian Pyramid Hill Granite at Mt Hope, showing flow-aligned K-feldspar phenocrysts, and small microgranitoid enclaves.
 
Norton Gully Sandstone: Ripples in turbidites of the Early Devonian Norton Gully Sandstone, near Eildon.
 
Porphyry dyke: Dyke of granophyric quartz-feldspar porphyry intruding the Nelse Shear Zone, Big River near Anglers Rest. `
 
Pyalong: Tors of Late Devonian Pyalong Granite, part of the Cobaw Batholith, near Pyalong.
 
Razor & Viking: The Razor (left) and the Viking (right), two cuestas of the Late Devonian Avon Supergroup, looking north.
 
Rocklands: Slab of Barangaroo Ignimbrite, of the early Devonian Rocklands Volcanic Group, showing tight flow folding of rheomorphic ignimbrite. Rocklands Dam.
