Some history, of course, is recorded in our own archives, and
reviewing the information in our own publications, awards, and symposia, is
rewarding. An overview of the early days of the GSA can be found in the book "Rock Me Hard", edited by BJ and DF Branagan (1994) - which might be located but is out of print (copies are available from Amazon, of course).
One of the interesting early artefacts is the attendance sheet from the first meeting of the Victoria Division, on 26 March 1953. Look
here, and see how many names you recognise!
Some information about distinguished early researchers can also
be found on the
Bright Sparcs website.
